Docker, NodeJS and complexity

I have some existing projects to contribute to that use NodeJS and Docker, and I am finding that getting set up to work on them is extremely daunting. I have never really used Docker. I have never really used NodeJS/npm/etc. I do know Javascript, but I don't build projects like this - it reminds me of Ruby-on-Rails, which I found to be a huge snarl of complexity. I know that the initial development was done on Macs, but in theory at least, I should be able to set up the Docker container and use that to get me into an equivalent development environment, but I don't really know how. Does anyone have a Debian-flavoured tutorial for setting up Docker/NodeJS so that I can build and run someone else's code? Thanks!

In order to screw on the ring, some of the threads from the audio jack must be exposed. Otherwise the ring would not be able to grab on and tighten. You don't need too many threads. Put the thread locker on those few threads, reinstall the ring and you should be good. Or put the thread locker on the inside of the ring. Without the ring, the audio jack may have rotated and might have interfered with the audio wires, possibly kinking them. If the file /sys/firmware/acpi/tables/MSDM exists (it's read-only to root), there's probably a key embedded in there you can pull out with strings Stewart

Remote Connection/Boot Woes

There is a computer several hundred kilometres distant from me that I use for backing up data. The other day I had to reboot it, and things have not been the same. Most of the time I can't get in: my ssh connection hangs on the key exchange (usually expecting KEX_ECHD or some such). But every now and then, if the wind is right, I get through that -- and once I managed to get all the way in, though it hung without giving me a command-line prompt. The messages given (using ssh -vvv) made me suspect that it's the window size of the packets. In some sense that's good news, since I know there is a firmware bug in the ethernet driver so I have to set the mtu < 1500 (and I usually set it to 1492 after rebooting). Thing is, I can't log on, so I can't reset the mtu, so ... Apart from having someone else go reboot the machine, is there anything I can do at a distance? (Apart from despair, that is; I have that covered.) Probably not. Raspberry Pi High-Availability / Remote Serviceable Solution

This is a follow on from my talk back November. This may be old news to many of you, but today I learned you can have the computer's real time clock boot your machine at a specific time. Turns out, things run faster too, even open source apps like Handbrake which take advantage of the GPU to do its video decoding while Linux can't do that. But the story is not done. I installed Windows Subsystem for Linux and now have a fully running Kubuntu as a VM when I want it. It was a handshake transfer, flying under the equitable doctrine of "first come first served". If the pilot succeeds, the city will consider expansion. The city seeks outside parties to build and run this network. We want to see this initiative succeed and grow to become a credit to our city.
