XFCE on regular Red Hat

For a long time, I've been using the Fedora XFCE spin, but wanted to build a new for-work dev machine and got RHEL 7.2, so I would have a supported version to host recent tools on. Fedora is fun, but tends to lag in app versions while being at the bleeding edge in kernel versions, which is fine for a toy machine, but the inverse of what I want for a machine to make money with.. 86_64 GNU/Linux Alas, RHEL 7.2 seems to be much *more* broken than Fedora fc 21 Yum can't even do a groupinstall, and half the required packages for xfce are in neither the Red Hat nor the EPEL repositories. Building XFCE from scratch exposes even more missing dependencies This seems odd, as many people with slightly earlier 7.X releases did $ sudo yum install epel-release $ sudo yum groupinstall "X Window system" $ sudo yum groupinstall xfce and were done. Is this just a bad release, or has RH been degrading while I was using something else? Should I downgrade to 6? Use KDE? Switch to a different distro? Things we will provide: Plates, Cutlery, Serviettes, Cups, and Garbage bags. Things you might want to bring: chairs, tasty beverages (that are non-alcoholic, as the city prohibits alcoholic beverages in the park), food stuffs that you would like to share and enjoy, tarp/blanket, sunscreen, hats, things to help survive the warmth of the Canadian Wilderness. We will doing this in a pot-luck style. Thus, please bring enough food and drink for yourself and your guests, and try to bring enough to share with others in the group. Luks on Ubuntu 14.04

Hey everyone, I've been trying to resolve an issue unlocking a luks encrypted partition on boot using Ubuntu 14.04. I've set it up to automatically unlock after the root partition's password has been entered by adding the target entry into /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/cryptroot. I have 6 drives in this machine and 5 unlock fine. The 6th errors out with unkonwn fs or bad options or password. I can unlock the partition after boot using the derived key from cryptroot. I've tried to zero out the drive and start over but the problem persists. Can anyone give me any pointers on how to solve this? The drive is used as a cache drive for the zfs file system. Thanks! IDE and tips for working with JavaScript?

First off, I know not Linux related things go to off topic. I'm not sure if the sender is supposed to direct the topic or not. Sorry if I should be~ I was looking at working on my code again, and decided to try tapping into JavaScript. I'll need a simple IDE (that will of course run on Linux, but most of them do so meh). I've minimal experience with JavaScript, and coding as a whole. My currently favored IDE is Brackets. It's been great so far, and works with JavaScript. Of course, not being familiar with JS, I'm not sure how well it works with JavaScript. Any tips on a similar IDE that may be more compatible with JavaScript and just tips in general about starting with JS would be of great help. I apologize if the question is too vague. Thanks! Git question

Afternoon I have a git repo called configurations. I want to add the directory /etc/ansible to the repo. Problem is when I clone the repo, I am not able to commit the ansible directory as the ansible root directory is outside the repo? Is there a way of getting the ansible directory into git without using a symlink? Regards, William‎
