<http://gtalug.org/picnics/2015/> GTALUG is having the annual Linux in the Park Potluck this year at Dufferin Grove Park on 25th July at 2pm. Things we will provide: Plates, Cutlery, Serviettes, Cups, and Garbage bags. Things you might want to bring: chairs, tasty beverages (that are non-alcoholic, as the city prohibits alcoholic beverages in the park), food stuffs that you would like to share and enjoy, tarp/blanket, sunscreen, hats, things to help survive the warmth of the Canadian Wilderness. We will doing this in a pot-luck style. Thus, please bring enough food and drink for yourself and your guests, and try to bring enough to share with others in the group. Hello moderators. I lerk in the GTALUG newsgroup often but don't often respond. I did response to the last thread for the first time in a while, but got a message back saying my message was awaiting moderation. I'm expecting this one to as well, and you can choose whether to respond directly or to post in the newsgroup and respond there. Does this group seriously moderate each and every message that passes through? Or do you have membership levels with some people requiring moderation and others not? Just curious, as if my messages are likely to get significantly delayed, then that would certainly have an effect on whether I try to post much more in the future. Kind Regards, Darryl Moore

I went to my local "Environment Day". Among other things, folks can turn in "e-waste", electronic things that they no longer want. They just get destroyed and, with luck, some fractional part gets recycled. I hate seeing good things go to waste. So I intercepted a scanner and now have it. An HP Scanjet 6300C. It was large, so I thought that it would handle legal-sized paper. No luck, it is large but only handles A4 length and Letter width (and smaller). It is old and slow but does work with Linux (USB; I haven't tried its SCSI prot). Is anyone interested in having it? I could likely bring it to the next meeting. If not, I'm going to throw it back.
