RJ45 crimper -- good ones?

I want to buy RJ45 (8c8p) crimper, so that I can make ethernet cable of exact length I need. Which brand is good quality? Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android

15+ years ago i was looking at them, good ones were like 200$, i bought the 30-40$ type, because i wasn't spending 200$. My company had the 200+$ type. If you are careful, i got the cheap type to work 98% of the time. Easy enough to test, and cut of end and re-punch. I found my cheap one doesn't always line up over the copper it presses down perfectly, so just have to be aware of that, as well, it need a good amount more hand strength, as the good ones leverage well or have ratchet. So I actually two hand with my cheap type. 200$ one can also be driven over by car, and still work, but not really a requirement I had for the home one :). Also didn't have need for 4line punch and other options, just RJ45. Also wonder, if the ends can have various qualities and compensate some what. -tl On Wed, Jun 15, 2016 at 11:43 PM, William Park via talk <talk@gtalug.org> wrote:

I think I paid $35 for it. I want something better. Something pros use, but at the low end. Take a look at a product called ezrj45. Its a connector and crimp tool combo where you can push the wires

Some guys I know who do cabling for a business claim its a great product. https://www.amazon.ca/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=platinum+tools+ez-rj45&tag=googcana-20&index=aps&hvadid=72436747237&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6183792565848999717&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_40j37cb1x8_b -- Alvin Starr || voice: (905)513-7688 Netvel Inc. || Cell: (416)806-0133 alvin@netvel.net ||

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I've got one similar to this: https://shop.primespec.com/100054c/ez-rjpro-hd-crimp-tool-platinum-tools.htm... It's meant for the kind of RJ-45 plugs where you can push the wires right through the front of the plug, to make sure you've got them in the correct order. The plugs with the open fronts cost a bit more, but you end up wasting fewer from bad crimping. The ratchet is handy too; closing the tool most of the way before the ratchet disengages is a handy way to put it in storage. Biggest beef: The wiring diagram on the shank lists the correct colours and pin numbers, but it's exactly UPSIDE-DOWN from the way the plug is inserted in the crimper. Never thought I'd be complaining about UX on a hand tool, but there you are. Although I linked to Primespec, I'd see if they're available from Sayal, who seem to have an amazing collection of tools. Primespec does differential pricing, depending on which customer you are. When I've bought stuff (cable, conduit) for one customer it's one price, when I buy for a different customer it's a different price. And if you get a vendor account with them they tell you their price list is confidential.
