personal webpage for GTALUG members?

Hi, I have ASCII tables (PDF) that I created and used over the years, and I would like to make it available to public. Is there "user" section in the wiki, where I can create entries with file attachments? I wouldn't mind paying "premium" membership for that. I don't really feel like getting a domain for few static pages. -- William Park <opengeometry@yahoo.ca>

I setup the GTALUG wiki to have a user section full access (view, edit, upload, delete) by an individual user. It follow this format <https://wiki.gtalug.org/user:username> & <https://wiki.gtalug.org/user:username:otherpage>.

Sorry it's in your own namespace so it would be <https://wiki.gtalug.org/user:scruss:start> to create a the index page and subsequent pages.

I found it easiest to edithttps://wiki.gtalug.org/user:start to add a link to the page and then follow it and fill in the resulting page. Hey, Y'all! If you've presented, or have a blog that may interest the membership, this is a good place to put basic contact information. --dave

What's the point of registering and logging in, if anyone can edit the page? -- William Park <opengeometry@yahoo.ca>

A wiki is a "groupwise" tool. Although in this case, these top level pages are named for users, it is still a group effort. Think of it as internal B2B communications. It might be as simple as someone correcting an obvious spelling or grammatical error and that change would then be noted in the changelog. It could be as complex as a serious disagreement about policy and procedures. The changelog would reflect that disagreement. If the issue persists and becomes problematic, at some point sysops steps in and commits whichever change most accurately reflects organizational goals under policy. It is one of the tools which allows remote micromanagement of policy, without necessarily engaging in personal staffing confrontations. In effect, group consensus is what drives the information chain, as opposed to a top down hierarchy. Although the host is the final arbiter.

I noticed that I also can't upload files without logging in. OK. -- William Park <opengeometry@yahoo.ca>
