I am flabberghasted at how different it all is. is it worth it ? David

We've recently rolled out puppet 4.2 for a new environment at work, instead of continuing w/ our puppet 2.7 rabbit hole. I must say that I quite like 4.2, particularly that puppetlabs added top down ordering of manifests, which makes writing manifests much more predictable! We've not attempted a 2.7->4.2 migration, but I sense it coming in the future. We have forklifted some 2.7 modules over to 4.2 without too much headache. Variable scoping changes, so we had to watch out for that. -jason On Wed, Dec 9, 2015 at 12:26 PM, David Thornton <northdot9@gmail.com> wrote:

FWIW we jumped on the puppet bandwagon as 3.x came out ... 2.x looked bad.. and 3.x was, after some jiggling, understandable. ( it looks like we were able to skip over some of the headaches of 2.x , and dothings the 3.x way ). David On Wed, Dec 9, 2015 at 1:02 PM, Jason Shaw <grazer@gmail.com> wrote:
