Hi all.I am new here and new at Linux stuff. I gust convert my laptop from Win 10 to Linux Cinnamon and it basically running. I like to install wine on it so as to add some of the Exe program I use. It refuses to be installed and I don’t know what to do from here. I wonder if there is someone in the east of Scarborough that I can contact and give me a hand on solving the problem. I'm guessing your distro is "Linux Mint" and your desktop environment is "Cinnamon".
I like to install wine on it so as to add some of the Exe program I use.
I don't use Mint, Cinnamon, or wine, so my advice is sustpect. Searching for "linux mint wine" gives me a number of hits and some AI-created advice. I cannot judge whether any of them is good. What does "refuses to install" look like? What messages does it tell you?

I'm not there. There are probably lots of on-line places where you could ask for help. Of course it is a lot easier if you have a way of participating while your computer is on the operating table (i.e. another computer or smartphone). I'm old-fashioned so I use IRC. I don't recommend that. Discord perhaps?

How are you trying to install wine? What message(s) do you get when you try? To install wine in Mint you just need to do "sudo apt install wine" then you will need to type "y" when asked if you want to continue. That's all you should need to do. -- Cheers! If no one is available to meet in person, you could probably use the GTALUG chat room for screen-sharing your computer to anyone who's familiar with installing WINE.

It might be a simple fix, if you can provide the errors. What is the result of typing these commands in a terminal: sudo apt update sudo apt install wine ?

I used to have Mint but I'm now using Zorin which came preinstalled with Wine/Bottles. Good luck! Sam
Thanks you all you guys that are trying to help. Tomorrow I will try to take a photo of the screen when I try to get Wine to install. It's almost like Chinese to me right now. If I could run a program like AnyDesk and have one of you expert guy to work on my laptop that would be great. But AnyDesk is an exe file and I would need wine installed first. I suspect the output from `sudo apt install wine` will give us enough to diagnose the problem with a simple command (fingers crossed).
