Samsung mobile phone A vs S series

Anyone here with Samsung Axx phones? How would you compare it against Sxx quality? I know Axx is for budget and Sxx is for premium flagship. I want this purchase to be my last. So, I'm weighing - new Axx models (A16, A36) - used Sxx models (S21+) (S20 is 4G).

I can't speak to that, but...

Samsung phones sold in North America cannot be rooted and have other firmware installed. If phone longevity is a consideration, iPhones or Pixels are the way to go. As said earlier, my Pixel4a from ~2020 was out of Google support for almost 2 years now. Yet with LineageOS it got boosted to the latest Android 15, gets weekly updates, and was turned from ewaste (Thanks, Google) back into a perfectly fine phone. Samsung uses Exynos chips on their international phones and those can be unlocked and have firmware installed. Not a Qualcomm vs Exynos difference, just that they lock phones sold in NA for some reason.

I have been using an A52 for about 4 years now. It's worked fairly well. My wife has an S22 that is now about 3 years old. Certainly the S22 is faster but neither has had any reliability issues so far. The A52 was of course a lot cheaper though. Now of course battery replacements are nearly imposible on these stupid glued together phones they seem to make these days, so expecting a phone to be your last seems highly unrealistic unfortunately. -- Len Sorensen
