I cannot imagine others have not addressed this..even if a while back. The new cable service winner is actually..Rogers. Because I get a 30% discount, with blending Internet with cable quite a deal. The Internet service, so far, is frankly stunning, and I am at the low end of the scale. However, there is a cable problem..their set top box uses HDMI..and nothing else. There are a couple of solutions, the tech is seeking an adapter, with my concern being that search must go through hands. One solution is tied to a digital splitter I use. red/white/yellow. Is there an HDMI adapter of this kind? The other involves the, miss spelling coming composite cable connection on my television..the same kind Rogers uses for their cable modems. so, an HDMI adapter to this port works as well, I can run audio from my set into the above referenced splitter, or if there is a USB to RCA adapter, manage the same. Thoughts that does not involve my changing TV equipment? I have other media production tools tied to this setup. With appreciation, Karen

Just when I sent the question, the Roger's tech returned..with an HDMI to red /white/ yellow digital adapter. plugged everything into the back of my still hard working Toshiba older set and ta-da! now I need another set of good quality red white yellow digital cable to run the setup sound into my surround sound! I miss above all computers. Karen On Fri, 27 Jun 2025, Karen Lewellen via Talk wrote:

Excellent. -- Len Sorensen

actually..tossing this question out just in case. As shared the rogers tech arrived with an adapter that is using the same red white yellow set of digital cable I used with my bell cable box. My challenge now? getting the sound from my television into the unit I use for surround sound via the audio visual setting of my Sony receiver. I am going to set up something I know works, my VCR, to make certain there is not a different problem. Still what Len said about resolution has me wondering if there might be a sound factor HDMI wise too? Kare On Sat, 28 Jun 2025, Lennart Sorensen wrote:

No sound and video are separate so that should not be a problem. I suspect the adapter provided is doing the job. Are you connecting the receive in a way you had before or is this a new setup you are trying to get working? -- Len Sorensen

I am connecting the setup as before, in theory at least. No matter how often I plan, some cable confusion happens, the case here. Add that with each move, I plan for a different room and the need for sighted help becomes a factor too. On Sun, 29 Jun 2025, Lennart Sorensen wrote:

HDMI to composite adapters do exist. One complication though is that the connection might have HDCP copy protection which the adapter likely won't support. There do however exist hdmi splitters that also strip the hdcp part of the signal, so at least in combination such a setup should work. I don't recall which TV you had so I can't remember if it was composite only or also did component, and what resolution it supported. There are different adapters for different resolutions and such. But at least in theory the setup should be possible without needing to change your TV. -- Len Sorensen

..and I now have sound! I truly realize folks appreciation of the new and fancy. Still, I am thankful to have picture into my Toshiba, and stereo sound into my Sony receiver's av port. now need a really really long RCA cable, so I can run the connection from the digital splitter across the room to my stereo, along walls and so forth. But! I can now get back to work. Thanks all, karen On Sat, 28 Jun 2025, Lennart Sorensen wrote:
