I managed to get Linode to revive the gtalug.org machine. I was told that it would work until the end of the billing cycle (the end of this month -- soon!). I would like to facilitate transferring control of the site from Chris to the GTALUG. Note: I do not have control. I have no authority to request it. I don't know who to talk to on our end. I've sent messages to a few people but haven't gotten very far. Who should I be talking to? I don't actually know who the GTALUG board and executives are. (Chris didn't post the results of the last election. I suspect he wasn't well and we just didn't know it. I feel really badly about not knowing and not trying to help him. I think that I talked with him on the phone on the day of the AGM.) (It could even be that the GTALUG folks I've reached out to are not in a good place. I have no idea.)

Sounds like a smart move -- William Henderson aka Slackrat http://billh.sdf.org/slackware.jpg 9HS5203 ON HamSphere Ham Radio

Hugh: You might try Scott (scott@revident.net) or Alex Volkov (alex@flamy.ca or avolkov@gmail.com). Both are on the Board now - Scott came in to help out with taking over some of Chris's duties. Both were concerned with this issue. Gordon On 2021-01-24 12:00 p.m., D. Hugh Redelmeier via talk wrote:

I'm on the board, too, as are Warren McPherson and Alan Heighway. I missed the last board meeting due to a conflict, but my understanding of the situation is: - the board/operations committee can't take over hosting (Linode) access until we get certain financial details from Chris's family. Linode are happy to accept payment against an account from anyone*, seemingly, but account access needs credentials we are currently stalled on. - Scott and I met with GTALUG's bank the other week to gain signing access. Unfortunately we were both given incorrect login details so neither of us can access the account. cheers, Stewart --- *: not suggesting you're just anyone, Hugh: your initiative helped us out of a deep hole.
