Toronto BSP on Saturday, April 27

Hello GTALUGers! Debian Bug Squashing party is happening in Toronto on Saturday, April 27 at 9am the Mozilla Toronto office. More details on this event are here -- https://wiki.debian.org/BSP/2019/04/ca/Toronto If you would like to participate please email me to (alex at flamy.ca) and I would add you to the list of participants. A Bug Squashing Party is a come-together of Debian Developers and Debian enthusiasts on a specified timeframe where these persons try to fix as many bugs as possible. I'm organizing this event with Sergio and Samuel and we've invited anarcat and invite him to come to Toronto and give his "Packaging 101" talk and has kindly 99%-accepted. Other than the presentation we're planning to introduce as many people as possible to software packaging in debian and squash as many bugs as we can. If Bug Squashing Party is something new, please read this beginners HOWTO -- https://wiki.debian.org/BSP/BeginnersHOWTO Alex.

You can also register yourself by creating an account on wiki.debian.org and then editing Toronto BSP wiki page yourself by adding your name to participants list. https://wiki.debian.org/BSP/2019/04/ca/Toronto However when creating account, you will need to email wiki@debian.org and ask to have your email whitelisted. This is an anti-spam measure. https://wiki.debian.org/DebianWiki/EditorQuickStart#Account Alex. On 2019-04-16 6:49 p.m., Alex Volkov via talk wrote:

Thanks for the email, Alex. When Samuel and I were talking last year about organizing the BSP, the first thing that came to my mind was the fact that we don't have a Debian community here in Toronto/GTA. For that reason, I'm considering this as a great opportunity to bootstrap a Debian community of developers here in the GTA/Ontario, which is something I've been missing for quite some time. The Bug Squashing Party will be totally hands-on; we will just have a quick presentation about Debian packaging and its BTS (Bug Tracking System), and then we'll sit and hack. I find it important to say that because this is not an event with talks and keynotes; it's really an opportunity for Debian hackers and enthusiasts to get together, fix bugs and have fun hacking. For that reason, we strongly recommend that you bring your computer, network cables, power adapters and power bars, if you have. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
