| From: Scott Sullivan via talk <talk@gtalug.org> | Privacy and security on the 21st Century Internet: a big picture view Thanks! Interesting. I did not know of this. Unfortunately tickets are no longer available.

I've been told to ignore the 'tickets' statement as this is a free event. On September 15, 2018 6:23:38 PM EDT, "D. Hugh Redelmeier via talk" <talk@gtalug.org> wrote:

The reason the library does tickets for free events is so that they don't over-book their facilities. Undoubtedly there will be some no-shows so there may well be extra seats, but there's a seating limit at the NYCL Auditorium and it will be enforced. What happens at "sold out" Toronto Reference Library events is that everyone who is wait-listed or without a ticket has to wait until a few minutes before the event and then they let in as many people as they can to fill available seats. But just showing up doesn't guarantee you'll get in. As I say: there will be no-shows (it's free, people book on-spec) so it's worth a try if it's important to you. (Yes, I work for the library. No, I won't be there and I'm in no way involved in these events - I'm not an official voice on the subject.) -- Giles https://www.gilesorr.com/ gilesorr@gmail.com
