Any Debian Developers here can help me sign my GPG key?

Hi GTALUG members, Do we have any Debian Developers here? I am in the second step of becoming New Debian Maintainer process -- https://nm.debian.org/process/194 and now need to have my GPG key signed by a Debian member. I was directed to the THUG group (Toronto (GNU)/Hurd User Group) http://www.nongnu.org/thug/ but only to find that their listed email (thug@gnu.org) is no longer working. So I'm in a bad position now, and really hope that there is a Debian Developer here, or you know of, that can help me. I live in GTA, North York to be exactly. Any help can comfort my desperate heart. Thanks Antonio

I have wondered the same thing. I have often thought I should become a debian developer, but the starting step of getting your key signed seemed like a hassle. :) -- Len Sorensen

Good to know and thanks for replying, Lennart. Would you ask around if there are any Debian Developer around uwaterloo please? (since I saw your are replying from csclub.uwaterloo.ca address), because the THUG group, http://www.nongnu.org/thug/, was organized by a bunch of Debian Developer in uwaterloo. Please do, and we can get our keys signed together hopefully. Because, indeed, getting your key signed is the biggest hassle to become DD/DM. All other things are trivial. The email is a legacy leftover. I am in Thornhill.

Checking the debian developer info, according to the map of developers, they list that someone should be at +43.46 -80.39, aka +43.46N, 80.39W which is right in the middle of waterloo airport. Another is listed as 43.47N 80.54W which is at the university. Not sure if the data is up to date or not. I found one that would be Montreal. Also found a few in the Ottawa area. Nothing in the GTA though according to the listed coordinates. -- Len Sorensen

Wow, impressive. How were you able to do that? I bet not something that can be explained in a few words?

Too bad, :-(

I went to https://www.debian.org/devel/developers.loc and clicked the link of anonymized 'list of developer coordinates' then searched for lines starting with +43, +44 and +45, looking for entries where the second number was in the low -70s to low -80s range which is the range for montreal through southern ontario. Then I entered 43.xxN 78.xxW and such in google maps to see where it was. Is that a few words? -- Len Sorensen

Thanks! Dhaval

Hmm..., I can only find Jabber ID from it, not email addresses, *nor where they are*. So may I know exactly what you are suggestion please?

Well it lists 32 people as in Canada. Doesn't tell you where in Canada though. Although clicking some at random, seems a "Norbert Veber" has something to do with a company in Cambridge. Hubert Chathi appears to be in Waterloo. I guess randomly clicking has some chance of finding one reasonably close. -- Len Sorensen

[ Resurrecting the thread. ] Hi Tong, As promised, here's my e-mail to GTALUG. I'm in the final stages of my process now, and hope to receive an answer in the next weeks. Maybe we can arrange to do a keysigning "micro-party" at the next meeting? I don't usually go to the meetings (in fact, I only went once, back in 2015!), but this would be a nice excuse to show up again :-). Thanks Sergio, I haven't been to GTALUG for a while either, but I do go to other meetups regularly. What's most important is that you are in (and pass) the final stages (Horay~ & congrats), and you are not moving away, for now. :-) So, no hurry, let's talk off line to find a more convenient time to meet, for you & me. congrats again!

Right, that'd work too. I just suggested going to a GTALUG meeting because then other people would have the opportunity of participating. It's always good to get more signatures for your key :-). But yeah, feel free to ping me offlist and we can arrange something.
