FSOSS 2018 registration

The registration page just went up. - Oct 25 & 26 (Thursday and Friday) - early bird (cheap) registration ends Oct 15. $75 for non-students, non-staff (note: any (educational?) institution is good for a discount. - seems to be at the Seneca @ York campus (I had heard that they were going to be moved; maybe next year) - for the first time it will be on the subway! I've enjoyed FSOSS for the years I've attended. I recommend it. You can even give a talk!

There are a couple of dead pages, this one is good: https://fsoss.senecacollege.ca/2018/ --dave On 2018-09-18 2:03 a.m., D. Hugh Redelmeier via talk wrote:

Before I submit credit card payments I run the Qualys test against the host: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=events.senecacollege.ca This shows that they're still using Symantec certificates. Symantec certs are untrusted: I'm surprised and disappointed that Firefox didn't point this out. I'm well aware of the whole Symantec certificate problem, as it's something that my business has tracked and worked through for about a year. It's a known problem Seneca should have fixed. I've complained to the FSOSS email address about this: I would encourage others to A) not submit credit card info over an untrusted link, and B) let Seneca or FSOSS know what the problem is. -- Giles https://www.gilesorr.com/ gilesorr@gmail.com

Chris Tyler responded - almost immediately - that the cert replacement is in process, and should be completed before the Early Bird pricing runs out (October 15). -- Giles https://www.gilesorr.com/ gilesorr@gmail.com

And the problem now appears to be fixed: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=events.senecacollege.ca (the two sites now draw a "B" rating). -- Giles https://www.gilesorr.com/ gilesorr@gmail.com
