Recommendations for a new desktop PC to run Debian linux booting live from USB port, would be appreciated.
That seems odd. Why do you want to do that? (You may have explained this before, but I don't remember.) Downsides: USB flash memory sticks are slow and (I think) unreliable compared to NVMe flash drives.
