I tried that, when I was shopping for Raspberry Pi Zero 2W. AliExpress had it for around $25. When I went to pay, they say "They detected suspicious network activity", and asked me to slide a slider. So, I did, and the price jumped to around $47. I ended up buying from Amazon at a cheaper price.
As I understand it, the first item in the first order you make from Aliexpress will be at a steep discount. If you haven't logged in, they assume that this is your first order. Once you log in, assuming that this isn't your first order, the price goes up. This may or may not be what hit you. ======================================================== Another scammy thing: Many listings have variants, selected typically as "color". When you do a search, they will show the cheapest color's price but the most expensive color's features. For example, I searched for a 10-port KVM switch and got this: <https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005009304918766.html> It shows a nice 10-port, 4k@60Hz switch and a price of $37.38 (plus $44.32 for shipping) But that price is for a 2 x 2 switch. The 10 port switches are out of stock (and always have been) and are more expensive ($119.68). Never mind that that is a good price.
