Do you know why? Did your sacrificial anode run out?
Probably no anode. I did regular flushes, and didn't see much in the water. So, never checked anode. For some reason, the anode hole is covered by the insulation, and I would have to dig it out. In hindsight and after reading, I should've checked anode. Very expensive lesson!
