The video format is the same but HDMI can also carry audio, which DVI can't. However, the mini PC that this topic is about has a 3.5mm audio out jack, so that shouldn't be a problem.
Well some PC video cards came up with a way of hijacking some of the unused analog VGA pins I believe for digital audio when you connect a DVI to HDMI cable. I have done it, and it worked in my setup. But officially DVI definitely doesn't do audio. -- Len Sorensen
