Beware of foreign companies with a .ca suffice (i.e. DROC.ca - my first registrar, a subsidiary of a US company). I've been using https://websavers.ca, based in Halifax. They're fine for VPS hosting, the DNS interface is a bit clunky if you were to manage it yourself. Their infrastructure is on OVH, a not-Canadian (European? Formerly French) company though. There was a bit of discussion on Canadian providers on Ottawa's list: https://lists.linux-ottawa.org/linux/2025/01/tindex.html Might find a bunch of suggestions there too.
