William -- that's really unfortunate.
I know someone else who had/has this problem but with wasps.

After opening up the hole a bit more, they secured those bug zappers near it and every time a wasp came out it would get zapped. Mind you they went through a lot of batteries.

They didn't want to call an exterminator or use insecticide as they were afraid of having toxic chemicals infiltrate into their home.

And they don't want to open up the bricks for obvious reasons.
