[GTALUG] Monitor for Internet Hosting Speed?

Most of the time this Teksaavy connection is fine, but on occasion it slows to the point of being unusable. Can anyone suggest a program that will log connection speed? A scrolling graph and ascii record would be perfect. There are lots of programs listed in response to a Google search, such as this one: http://dynacont.net/documentation/linux/network_monitoring/ But it would greatly help to hear what others in this group recommend.
