Is there a simpler, and local, alternative to Dropbox.  We just need to share a few files.  

Nextcloud can do that, quite well.

Probably can perform  several other tasks such an organization might need (collaborative document editing, contacts synchronizing, calendar sharing, appointments booking, etc.)
