I hope and wish that ALL Opens Source Programmers BAN University of Minnesota for LIFE. Umm.. that is extreme ? Two people did this ? These two people do not make up the University ?
Indeed. Uni research has to be "approved" by the Uni...- It is a bit like Microsoft, Google, Amazon and FB etc are, as corporate culture, actual actions and deeds, etc. proves what a group or org, really and truly is/are.
Deception, power, control and narcissistic. Hire these types of people? Hell No!
Listen, do you remeber one of Linus's most famous quotes ? He said and I quote: "See, you not only have to be a good coder to create a system like Linux, you have to be a sneaky bastard too."
hmm, indeed. but you do need to read that in context as it was never meant to be the equivalent of: "Insert yourself into Microsoft and add security flaws to their software" What the Uni did, imho, is either criminal or close to it. The line was crossed between what general society views as a crime, anywhere on the planet.
Forgive me I did some digging and the reason was I really wanted to know 'where' this 'passion' was coming from. And what I find says you're from South Africa and the email came through Germany ? Hell GTALUG has people all over the planet ? Yikes..
I have family in Toronto and used (pre covid) to be there, sometimes 3 months at a time... Same as in the US, I have a lot of family there and am frequently there also for many months at a time. Currently, and during covid I am in South Africa. The region where I am physically: The climate is one of the most temparate on the planet, year through and with great infrastructure (with 24/7 green energy and fresh very clean water from the ocean) - I have been everywhere on the planet, as in really everywhere and I have experienced many seasons and many climates. What I know is that Hawaii is really fantastic (but I have no family there) - so until covid is done, I chose the 2nd best place place :) Anyway, I do belong to five different Linux communities as I regard these as my "family" also :)
They, and their institution, are now known worldwide for being ethically challenged. You and me both want them dead but calmer minds ( like GregKH ) will prevail :-)
no, not dead. but simply put: an example must be made and it needs to be seen to be done, in the interests of open source everywhere
