So how come this email from December 8th has a header saying mailman approved December 12th and only showed on then?
Is a bunch of messages requiring manual approval on the list these days? In the past people could actually have pretty fast turn around on emails on the list, now it seems sometimes it gets stuck for days or weeks at a time.
Is there enough issues with spam or other bad messages to justify the harm such delays in messages causes?
Delays are caused by mailman asking us whether certain messages should go through. In this case, somehow Alan's message was half-flagged: it went through on the talk list but not on the announce list. Mailman gave the following reason but I don't actually understand it: Reason: Message has implicit destination <https://wiki.list.org/DOC/What%20does%20%22message%20has%20implicit%20destination%22%20mean%3F> Normally I triage flagged messages within a day. This week we were moving furniture and I could not get to it. Yes, GTALUG lists get some spam. ebike spam, for example. And a certain number of posts by non-list-members.
