Make sure you have conman installed and that the device is not rfkill disabled On Fri, Oct 4, 2024 at 18:06 o1bigtenor via talk <talk@gtalug.org> wrote:
Bought a couple of these. Cosmetically - - - dunno why its class b - - - they look in pretty good shape.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get wlan0 running?
I've not had these problems in the past - - - just seems like its a bit goofy. Its an intel made wireless setup and it needed regulatory.db installed (that's not part of the normal install!).
I will try adding non-free and non-free-firmware to /etc/apt/sources.list to see if that helps.
TIA

The full specs are here:
https://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/dell-tablets/13-2-in-1-3310/spd/latitude-13-...
It mentions being able to have 16GB of RAM. Based on that page it only
has a
single SODIMM slot.
Thanks! I jumped the gun without looking up the specs.
TL;DR: This isn't as good a deal as I thought.
That's the wrong model: that's a 2-in-1.
I think that the actual model is the normal one, described here: < https://dl.dell.com/content/manual21800025-dell-latitude-3310-setup-and-spec...
Yes, it has only one SODIMM slot. That's a hint that the computer was designed to be cheap.
Another blurb says that it is for "education", in particular, students. That suggests they want it cheap and sturdy. With a high list price so that they can give apparently enticing discounts to easily fooled school boards. "Starting at $1,109.00."

If these are off lease from a school board, I bet their condition is fairly beat-up. They are cosmetic class "b". --- Post to this mailing list talk@gtalug.org Unsubscribe from this mailing list https://gtalug.org/mailman/listinfo/talk
