Something interesting I found in DistroWatch.com...

1. SysLinuxOS -- It's Debian base, with btrfs filesystem, snapshots, and 7.0.x kernel.  It comes in Gnome or Mate desktop.  No KDE.

2. Apline -- It's 100MB distro, runing busybox .  When you install KDE desktop, it grows to 3GB, the smallest KDE distro around.
