LVS is a very good software package that is constantly under development and use. linux-ha.org works with LVS collaboratively. http://oscar.openclustergroup.org/tiki-index.php OSCAR is another open source project for cluster builds you should look at. If you want an easy cluster to setup and administer I would look at ClusterKnoppix which is based on the Knoppix liveCD with OpenMosix clustering integrated. This should make for a pretty easy install/setup http://bofh.be/clusterknoppix/ -----Original Message----- From: owner-tlug-lxSQFCZeNF4 at public.gmane.org [mailto:owner-tlug at ss.org] On Behalf Of Madison Kelly Sent: Thursday, December 18, 2003 1:56 PM To: tlug-lxSQFCZeNF4 at public.gmane.org Subject: [TLUG]: High-Availability Hi all, I am working on developing a small cluster of servers and I was (am) looking at LVS (Linux Virtual Server) and it -seems-- to be able to do exactly what I want. That is; create a server cluster transparent to the user for hosting mail, web, file serving and LAN authentication. Why I am posting though is that most of the pages off of http://linux-ha.org seem to be a few years out. Am I missing any more modern options, by chance? Does anyone have any general comments or suggestions for what I am trying to do? Thanks!! Madison -- The Toronto Linux Users Group.
