
Is the fan making a <grrrrrrrnnnn> kind of sound that sometimes goes away and comes back again, or is consistent? This happens when sleeve-bearing fans (very common) "spin-out", meaning the the sleeve that contains the fluid bearing oil wears through and the oil spins-out, leaving no protectiong against friction. The most noisiest fan on my computer is the CPU fan. What do you recommend for a CPU fan?
I think that's the culprit on mine as well. I took the drive bay out this morning and it's quieter but not quiet enough. I think the fan is just dying.
